Lily went to the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist yesterday morning. The dr. diagnosis is "Middle Ear Effusion". She is not a candidate for "tubes"; at the moment. The good news is the ears are not infected (right now). The bad news, there is fluid in front of and behind the ear drums affecting her hearing and causing a mild to moderate hearing loss. An audiologist ran some test that showed little to no movement of the ear drum when hit by sounds. When I heard that my heart sunk! But the Dr. reassured me its not permanent and not to worry. Because Lily will no longer be in daycare after this Friday he thinks that will give her the opportunity to be clear from most germs and allow the fluid to dry up on its own. Daycare isn't the cause but does compound the issue when the ears become infected. We go back in 6wks for a re-check. If by then there is still no change the symptoms will have been present long enough to proceed with "tubes". We go back on July 6th.
Lily now has 4 bottom teeth. No top yet. She is getting very anxious to walk. Last week she started using the push walker that her Aunt Sharon bought her. She yells at me if I don't let her go freely. She brought home a few battle wounds from school (bruises), trying for those first steps.

Ear Madness
Lily went back to the Dr. this morning for a re-check on her ears. Unfortunately they are not any better. We were referred to an ENT specialist(ear, nose, throat) and will likely will be treated with "tubes" within a week or so.
On a happier note Lily is crawling everywhere and constantly pulling up on everything. She is getting braver by the day. She will pull up on the couch, then move over to the coffee table and back again. I've refused to completely rearrange my house now that she is mobile. She has to learn one way or another that some things aren't meant for her... I figured I'd start that now. Her first words will probably be "Don't touch that".
We are working with a sippy cup and eating more regular foods. The food has been a struggle but the dr. said it is likely because of the discomfort with her ears. So we will push after we receive the "all clear" from the specialist.
Until next time....

9 Month Ups & Downs
So our little one is now 9 months old. She is at such a fun age. She is crawling all over along with pulling up and walking with assistance. She is talking more and more everyday. The personality is really coming out.
Some have already heard and to others this may be news but the "Coyle Family" is in the process of moving back to our home town of Davie. Long story short...career wise for Ryan and with all of our family there, its just the right thing for us. I am excited to say I will be a stay at home mom with Lily until she is a little older.
Over the weekend Lily had a couple "firsts". I took her on the 4-wheeler and she seemed to really love it. It was nice to go on a little cruise but it was even nicer to top it off with a dip in the pool afterward. The temperature has finally warmed up enough for us to enjoy it.

On to Sunday...(sigh).... Ryan tried poisoning me with dinner. Something did not sit right with me and I spent the night hugging the toilet. By morning I was so weak and exhausted than I could not take Lily to her 9 month Dr. check-up. So Ryan had to take off of work and take care of me and Lily. Come to find out she is still battling ear infections. Yesterday she was even more fussy and congestion began to set in, so we went back to the dr. and decided to be more aggressive with the antibiotic. We have to go every 24hrs for 3 days to get an injection of meds rather than orally. The doctor said this should really kick the infection and hopefully keep her "well" until the end of May when she will be done with day-care. Fingers crossed it works and we don't have to see a specialist.
I went to peak in on her before going to bed myself last night. All propped up on pillows to help her breathe and tucked in so perfectly....She has a really good Daddy!!
