Picking up speed

So its been over a week of crawling and she is still picking up speed. She began drinking from a sippy cup and eating more table food. She now claps for everything.

Aunt Sharon is now 16wks and doing well aside from the constant nausea and frequent sickness. The babies(2 boys & 1 girl) are right on track with their growth measurements. Aunt Andria is now 36wks and quickly approaching her due date. We are all anxious to meet their lil' one towards the end of May.

We visited with Great Grandma Butler and Great-Great Aunt AnnaLee on Saturday morning for breakfast. Its been awhile since babies have crawled around that house. It was kind of neat to see my daughter crawl around a house I once lived in over 22yrs ago.

Luckily we were able to be there on Saturday to visit. Great Aunt AnnaLee passed away Monday morning. You will be greatly missed by all. Save a seat for us...

Party at my Crib!

It hasn't even been a week of crawling and she figured out how to pull herself up in her crib. I'm not at all surprised. She was so proud of herself, all I could do was laugh.

Every evening our routine is dinner, bath, bottle (w/ Wheel of Fortune), a few minutes of play time, and then off to bed. Typically by that time she is so tuckered out she falls to sleep rather quickly once she's in her crib. Last night was a little bit different. I put her in her crib, tucked her in and said "good night". Ryan was busy in the kitchen and I was going to work out so I figured I'd check in on her before I went outside. Keep in mind its now almost 8 o'clock and she usually turns into a pumpkin by 7:30. Not this time... I go to peek in her room and through the shadows I see this little wobbly body standing tall grabbing at the bears on her mobile. As soon as she spotted me she giggled. I called to Ryan and said "I told you to lower her mattress over the weekend. Now look at this monkey!".

I went to wake Lily up this morning but she had beat me to it. She was standing tall with a big smile on her face.

Crawling ! !

Lily is mobile, finally. She has been rockin' n rollin' for a couple months. Just last Thursday she made it out of the den and into the living room. Its not exactly the most organized movement but she can get from point A to point B, with coaching of a toy. She started small movements months back on her belly in the reverse gear. Then she figured out how to get to her hands and knees but would cry because she didn't know how to move. Within the past couple weeks she has been scooting her back legs up underneath her but then would scream because she couldn't figure out how to move her arms. It was funny and sad at the same time. Then.... one afternoon *BAM*, she figured it out! Accompanied by her new discovered movement was her determination to pull up on everything. Needless to say this weekend's trip to the beach was a bit more interesting than last. She was pulling up on the chairs, crawling off the blanket, and impossible to hold when she saw the water. And ya know what.... I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

On another note. We had a few hiccups with an ear infection but the Dr.s are keeping a close eye. She is up to 18lbs. I'm sure Grammy is going to laugh but...like Mother like daughter. Lily is a picky eater. As a youngster, I know I gave my mom a hard time when it came to eating the healthy things like vegetables. We have to trick Lily with every other spoonful of veggies or meats with a yummy scoop of fruit. The faces are quite interesting. Ryan says its my attitude coming out..if so WATCH OUT! We are going to have a "Wild One" on our hands.

Beach Baby

It was a more than perfect weekend for us. This was our first weekend home in over 2 months and we loved every minute of it. I felt a little awkward on Friday evening not traveling anywhere.

Saturday morning we loaded up and headed for the beach. Zeke had to hang back for Lily's first trip. It would have been too much. Especially considering he'd want to swim the entire time and the water has not yet hit my preferred temperature.

So write away we went for a stroll so Daddy could finish his morning cup of coffee. The dolphin were feeding like crazy and really close to shore. However, I wasn't prepared to be stopped every 5mins by passing walkers to answer questions about the wagon. One couple even asked if that was something we rented and where could they get one. I think its time Uncle Nick puts a price tag on it and gives me cards to hand out.

Aunt Katie bought Lily a little dome tent which couldn't have worked better for the occasion. She had a place to sleep and most importantly, out of the sand . Apparently they've stopped making them so I've been strictly instructed to NEVER get rid of it.
After Lily's morning nap we rolled on down to the pier for lunch. She actually shared a little of my lunch for the first time. Usually anything I offer her that isn't Gerber is immediately spit back at me.

Once Lily was re-applied with SPF50, we hit the water. Like her mommy and daddy - she loved it.... unless I take away her shovel. Fort Myers beach is actually rated one of the top "kid friendliest" beaches because the waves are nearly non-existent and perfect to play along the shore line. We can't wait to go again!

HAPPY EASTER

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter from our Lil Bunny to you!

Lily's 1st Easter was a success. This year did not consist of dyeing eggs for the obvious but next year will be a different story ;) We had Easter lunch at Aunt Sharon's. There was way too much going on for me to worry about pictures so I will be hitting Aunt Katie up for copies since she was prepared.

In the last post I mentioned Lily had been teething but it turned out to be a double ear infection. She was at the dr.'s 2 weeks prior for a cold/cough and had been on amoxicillin. So when fussiness began I though it was symptoms of an ear ache but since she had been on antibiotics for a week I assumed that would have kicked it if that were the case. However, her body rejected it or it just wasn't strong enough it rid the cold so it turned into the ear infections. Let's just say Ryan was relieved to hear medicine would take care of our drastically cranky baby. He thought maybe she was starting the "teenager attitude" prematurely. I am happy to report Lily is on the fast track to recovery.
