Webble Wobbles...but they do fall down!

Last week and over the weekend we have been working with Lily on "sitting". She can do it but we have to be ready to play "catch". I pulled the video camera out for a few clips.

In the mean time she is getting such a personality! She is at such a fun age and is growing like a weed. Ryan mentioned just yesterday that we are going to have to lower her crib mattress soon. The other night she woke crying because she had scooted to the head of her bed and wedged herself up in the corner. Once she can sit up on her own, it will be hours before she is pulling herself up to stand.

Game Show Baby

So about a year or so ago, Ryan and I started watching Wheel of Fortune around dinner time during the work week. Great Grandma Butler and Great-Great Aunt Anna Lee are avid watchers - oh and how can I forget Uncle Jay and Aunt Crystal. Even now that Lily is here, it seems as though it is still in our routine after the nightly depressing news.

The way our schedule works out is Lily starts her night-time bottle about 10 minutes before or right as "Wheel" comes on (7p). Typically Ryan or I are on the couch with her. Well, for the past week or two "Lil Miss Lily" stops drinking and tries to sit up as soon as she hears the Game Show Music. She can be half asleep and relaxed as can be, but when she hears the audience say "Wheel of Fortune!" its like a switch is flipped. Its too funny! Every time I try to lay her back down she refuses and turns until she can see the TV. I kid you not - she will sit like a happy camper on you lap watching Wheel of Fortune until she can't hold her eyes open.

Break Through!

Over the weekend Lily and Mommy went to the east coast to hang low with some family and friends. We stayed with Aunt Sharon and Uncle Johnel. I think it was good for them ha ha. Lily of course is an early riser. I couldn't believe my eyes when Auntie Shana came strolling out of her bedroom at 7am Saturday morning to have breakfast with us. Now, Uncle Johnel is a different story :).

At lunch time Aunt Katie, came over to meet us and we trucked on up to Great Grandma Butler and Great-Great Aunt Anna Lee's house for lunch. We had a love very good visit. Typically for any visits at their house Lily sleeps. This time was a totally different story. Lily was louder than the birds and talked or shall I say "screamed" up a storm.

While we were there I made a little discovery. Lily had not 1, but 2 teeth break through on the bottom. I check daily and I can promise they weren't there on Friday. She ran a slight temp a few days before so I'm assuming that was the cause. Not to mention she had been refusing warmed food and preferred it straight out of the fridge. It must feel good on her gums.

So, I've been told/warned that once the 1st few break through, its only a matter of time before her mouth will be flooded with "little teefers". I guess in future photos "Our Little Lily" will have a "snaggle tooth smile".

Oh and some of you may notice Lily's Blog received a face lift. Thank You Jodi!!!!

Conquering Milestones Together

Lily is approaching 6 months old and so many things are happening at once; or so it seems.

The baby food is an everyday occurrence, 3x's a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). I am learning how to spoon feed as much as she is learning to be spoon fed :). At the end of every meal we are both a mess! Within the past 2 weeks she has learned to blow raspberries with a mouth full of food - awesome! If Ryan is not feeding her, it best he is not in her view because all she wants to do is laugh and smile. Its cute and he loves it but all my effort of getting the food into her mouth is quickly lost. With the crack of a smile the food pours down her face. Its really a site to see. So far we have tried; peas, carrots, bananas, applesauce, sweet potatoes, apple blueberry, strawberry banana, and last but not least...green beans. She still isn't thrilled out the green beans and prefers everything chilled rather than warm. A friend suggested I try the oatmeal rather than the rice cereal. She did better with it but again she prefers it chilled. A learning process for the 3 of us.

About a month ago she would try to hold her bottle but she has definitely improved. She use to pull it out and jab it in her eye :) ..and now she actually holds it but gets lazy and drops it. "The Nuk" (pacificer) is another object she has learned to pull out and put it back in on her own. It takes some serious concentration but can get it accomplished.

Over the weekend - Saturday morning, Ryan got up with Ms. Sunshine at 6:30a to let me catch up on a few zzzz's. Lets just stay I wasn't able to get much more sleep. Lily has definitely discovered her voice. After breakfast and her bottle each morning she goes in her swing in the living room to let her belly settle before we begin to play. While she was resting her belly she was strongly exercising her vocal cords! She talks and screams up a storm now!!!!!

At daycare she is now big enough to go in the "jumperoo". For those of you that don't know what that is... its a little seat her legs dangle from that is attached to bungee cords. It allows them to bounce/jump and strengthen their legs. In her infant room they have a few of these and its is quite hysterical to witness. When the babies are in them, they face the jumpers at each other and the babies go CrAzY. Its looks like a "real life" Rock'em Sock'em Robots Game!

Wiggle Worm...she is rolling over and no longer able to be left unattended. She rolled over a while ago but now if she is on the changing table, in the bouncer chair, bath tub, ect...it only take one strong push with her little leg and she quickly flops over. When she is on her back she is constantly grabbing at her toes (makes it quite easy for diaper changes). She is constantly trying to sit up; and can if you just hold her hand. It's only a matter of time before I turn my head and she does it on her own.

High Chair Fun

We finally pulled out the high chair over the weekend. Turns out she loves to play in it while I am in the kitchen or picking up around the house; so it works out great!

We have tried rice cereal with Lily a month or so back but we decided to hold off. So this weekend we attempted the cereal again and she still wasn't thrilled. She shoved each spoonful out with her tongue and made a yucky face - I don't blame her. So Sunday morning Daddy went to the grocery and picked up a few jars of baby food. Green beans were our first try and for the most part we were successful. Towards the end she began making gagging sounds and spitting out the remnants. After filling her belly partially with solids I thought for sure she wouldn't drink her whole 6oz bottle; but I was wrong...down the hatch it went. Needless to say she was zonked after that.

Monday morning I attempted the cereal again and she made more of an effort to spit it all out and make more interesting faces. I think the next cereal attempt will have to be mixed with fruits or veggies for some added taste and texture. Later that evening we did green beans again and was successful. So this morning we introduced bananas and she loved them! She must get it from mommy because I am all for fruit and could care less about vegetables.

In addition to adding solids to her diet she has also had a minor change in her evening schedule. For months now she has gone to bed at 7pm and woke up at 6am. But before I go to bed for the night I would give her a "top-off" or "dream feed" bottle to carry her through till morning. For the past 2 weeks she has not been finishing her first morning bottle so I thought it may be time to take out that last evening feeding. I had pulled it back from 6oz to 5oz, then 4oz and the past week we were down to 2oz. Last night was the first time we didn't give her the last bottle. Ryan and I had to WAKE her up at 6:30am so we could get ready for work/daycare. I know there may be a night here and there that she will stir but I am happy to say the schedule we worked hard to implicate has paid off. Restful nights for baby and parents = happy family in the morning!

She holds this blanky every night to fall asleep. Usually she covers her eyes with it too.

Oh and over the weekend a strong front came through so we've had the heater running for Lily. The high has only been 60. The past few morning have been in the 30's, so mommy had to bundle her up on the ride to daycare. Let's just say...she was warm and could barely move ;)
